What is The Rioja Masters?
The Rioja Masters, organised by the Global Wine Masters, is an annual competition that brings together expert judges to blind taste and evaluate Rioja wines across various styles and price ranges. The Global Wine Masters Competitions began in 2013 as an offshoot of the drinks business, the world’s leading magazine for the wine and spirits trade. The judging panel, chaired by the drinks business, will be composed exclusively of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and buyers. The panel awards the best wines with medals from Bronze through to Gold, with the opportunity to be rewarded a Master for exceptional wines.

Alejandro López, the new chief winemaker at Beronia Rioja, is passionate about crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir of Rioja Alta, blending tradition with innovation to produce award-winning wines.
With extensive experience across renowned wineries in Spain, Chile, Italy, and the United States, Alejandro’s approach prioritises sustainability and the expressive qualities of Rioja’s native grape varieties, including Tempranillo and Viura.
