Domane Wachau
The river Danube in northern Austria winds its way through the Wachau Valley, a 20-mile stretch regarded as one of the most picturesque parts of the river. With its quaint, medieval villages and impressive 12th century castles, it is unsurprising this area has been granted UNESCO world heritage site status.
Domane Wachau is one of the iconic wine producers of the region, with its terraced vineyards strung along the steep banks of the river on a patchwork of terroirs that provide endless nuance to the Gruner Veltliner and Riesling grapes that grow there. In 2020 the Wachau region was awarded DAC status, meaning the quality and style of wines from this outstanding region will be protected and formally recognised, allowing their most highly prized wines, many from Domane Wachau, to shine even brighter.
