Pazos de Lusco
The well documented love for Albarino shows no signs of slowing. with the addition of Pazos de Lusco to the family of Gonzalez Byass wine estates in 2016, we are delighted to be able to offer these hand crafted elegant and expressive Albariño wines from a hugely respected producer.
Located just 2 kilometres from the Portuguese border in the sub-region of Condado de Tea, the warm maritime climate, gently sloping vineyards and sandy soils produce wines typically richer and fuller than their coastal counterparts, with great varietal purity. Time honoured production methods are continued, with the 5 hectares of vineyards trained in the traditional Pergola system on high trellises to maximize sun exposure and increase air circulation to maintain perfect fruit health before it is harvested by hand and fermented with natural yeasts.
At the heart of the estate lies the majestic 16th century manor house, known as Pazo Piñeiro, which has undergone extensive renovations.
Meaning ‘sunset’ in the local Galician dialect, Lusco is vibrant, bright, and full of classic Albariño character.
