Quinta do Noval

Quinta do Noval is widely regarded as one of the leading lights in Port and has always done things a little differently. Situated just outside Pinhão in the heart of the Douro valley, Quinta do Noval is a single estate Port shipper with a focus on quality, terroir driven Ports and wines. Acquired by AXA Millésimes in 1992, the estate undertook an extensive replanting and regeneration programme under the leadership of Christian Seely that has furthered its reputation as one of the top producers in the region.

Quinta do Noval is respected equally for its Tawny and Vintage styles, and famed worldwide for its Nacional Vintage, produced in tiny quantities from ungrafted Portuguese vines. In recent years a focus on quality unfortified red wines has brought an added dimension to this stunning portfolio.

Quinta do Noval may have a reputation for being an iconic Port producer, but in recent years it has also had a lot of success in producing very high quality white and red wines from its home in the heart of the Douro valley. The range comprises of Cedro do Noval – a dazzlingly fresh white and an extraordinarily seductive and spicy red; three single varietal Douro DOC wines – which showcases the magnificent schist terroir; finally the Douro DOC Reserva – a complex and structured wine which demonstrates that the Douro has the capability of producing some of the very finest wines in the world.

Quinta do Noval Vintage Ports are revered the world over for their harmony, freshness and balance. Noval work on the principal that quality alone determines whether a Vintage Port is worthy to be declared. Quinta do Noval Nacional Ports

Nacional Port is made from hand harvested grapes grown at the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard on ungrafted vines, untouched by phylloxera. The word “Nacional” refers to the fact that the vines are Portuguese vines growing in Portuguese soil with no foreign root stock and are therefore “attached to the soil of the Nation”.
