Blecua and La Duquesita: craftwork with a soul

Published on
Winery Viñas del Vero and Oriol Balaguer’s bakery La Duquesita have united to offer an unusual harmony: the one achieved between Blecua 2009 and a delicious gianduja and chestnut panettone. Both artisanal products share the same philosophy in their making, based on the passion that initiates their respective creative processes and the devotion to raw materials. The result is a culinary pairing that can only enhance the flavours and sensations naturally conveyed by the two products. It is the summit of an encounter between two pieces of pure craftsmanship: an iconic Somontano wine and a luscious panettone prepared by a renowned pastry chef. Blecua 2009 –the last vintage of a wine that shows the best of Somontano– and delicious gianduja and chestnut panettone –one of Oriol Balaguer’s most emblematic products– materialise the fusion of two works of art that share soul and passion in their creation. A wine of worship Blecua, considered a cult wine, is made only after exceptional vintages. Of very limited production, this wine gem is the fruit of a thorough triple selection of vineyards, grape clusters and barrels. Complex and of great intensity in the nose, the best Somontano wine also has an extraordinary aging potential, which guarantees a genuine pleasure. An exciting panettone The homemade gianduja and chestnut panettone is one of the most iconic products of La Duquesita, the bakery owned by Oriol Balaguer, one of the most distinguished bakers in Spain. This delicacy is made using a sourdough older than 50 years. After a careful three-day preparation, the result is a spongy, extremely tender pastry with exquisite internal moisture, intense notes of chestnuts and a persistent flavour of hazelnut cream.
