Tío Pepe Cuatro Palmas has become the Best Wine in the World by achieving the "Champions of Trophy of Champions" of the International Wine Challenge. Considered as the great date with wine internationally, this contest held in London brings together the best references from around the world that make up to become the best wine in the world. In the 36th edition, its jury, composed of MW and professionals of the sector, has valued the quality and uniqueness of an enological wonder of Jerez who has obtained this recognition for the first time in its history.
Unique and unrepeatable features specific to the personality of this Very Old Amontillado, which shows Palomino Fino's ability to age with elegance and nobility. It comes from only one of the six boots that have remained, for 53 years, at La Constancia Solera Museo de González Byass, waiting for his moment to dazzle the world. He has waited for more than half a century until Antonio Flores, a winemaker from González Byass, along with Natasha Hughes MW have traveled the winery in his search. It is the boot where time and the winery have been shaping a wine with which a historical legacy is recovered.
The result is Tío Pepe Cuatro Palmas, a clean and bright Jerez wine, which has an intense mahogany color with amber reflections. In nose is complex, deep and awakens aromas of antique furniture, cedar, lacquers and varnishes. In mouth is blunt, very dry, direct and wild, which ends in an imposing end reflecting the perfect balance between acidity and old age. Mojamas and salted fish, very old questions or the contrast of a pure cocoa are highly recommended experiences to accompany this legendary wine.
With this award, Spain is at the world center of the current wine scene and also takes another step in the #Sherryrevolution. Created by González Byass, this global movement has as its main goal the diffusion of knowledge around the world of the uniqueness of these wines, as well as the culture and essence of one of the great wine regions of the planet: Jerez.
