Published on
González Byass has been placed as the first Spanish winery and the fifth in the world in the "100 Best Wineries of 2016" ranking, prepared by the WAWWJ –World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wines and Spirits. Along with this success is the one obtained by Noé Pedro Ximénez Muy Viejo V.O.R.S, third wine in the "100 Best Wines of the World 2016” ranking and Best Spanish Wine of the list. With a total of 2,853 points and 167 awards obtained in different competitions and international contests, González Byass has again positioned itself as the best Spanish winery in the world. The last triumphs achieved by the House –Bodegas Tío Pepe at the International Wine Challenge; Bodegas Beronia and Cavas Vilarnau at Mundus Vini; Viñas del Vero, Finca Constancia and Beronia Rueda at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles; Finca Moncloa at the International Wine & Spirits Competition– have even improved the results obtained in the 2011, 2013 and 2014 rankings, in which it was likewise elected Best Spanish Winery. In the 2016 world ranking Noé stands out, with its recognition as first wine of Spain. Time, quality and uniqueness mark the personality of this wine gem that both conveys and excites and which, year after year, manages to captivate the jurors of the major international wine competitions. This Very Old Pedro Ximénez V.O.R.S. has aged for more than 30 years in American oak barrels, resulting in an intense very old sweet wine, with powerful warm aromas of dried fruit and notes of high-roast wood, coffee and spices. About the WAWWJ Ranking The WAWWJ freely associates journalists, writers, social communicators, authors of Internet sites and the like from all the countries around the world. Since 1996, the association has produced this ranking which –based on the results obtained in international and national competitions– classifies wines and wine companies.
