The González Byass sherry wines, highlighted in “The Wine Advocate”

Six wines from legendary winery Tío Pepe achieved excellent scores in the latest edition of “The Wine Advocate”, Robert Parker’s magazine. This publication awarded scores above 90 points to a wide range of Tío Pepe wines. Remarkably, 98 points went to Palo Cortado Añada 1982 and 96+ points to Amontillado Cuatro Palmas.   The tasting notes that the magazine includes stress the quality and uniqueness of Palo Cortado Añada 1982, qualifying it as "a superior palo cortado, produced from a single cask from which only 667 bottles were bottled". Here, it is noted that this is "a wine difficult to find", and readers are expressly recommended to try and grab a bottle of it.   The wine gems that make up the Finos Palmas Collection also received excellent ratings: 96+ points for Amontillado Cuatro Palmas (described as "a world class amontillado"), 93+ points for Fino Tres Palmas, 92 points for Fino Dos Palmas points and 91 points for Fino Una Palma.   Tío Pepe en Rama 2014, with 91+ points, is also featured in the ratings. According to the publication, this Tío Pepe in its purest form "is a thriving wine, full of all the character and power of the en rama wines.   Antonio Flores, oenologist at González Byass, said that "these scores are great news and prove the quality of our sherry wines as well as the carefulness used throughout their manufacturing process. It is wonderful to see how sherry draws the attention it deserves in international media".
