González Byass triumphs in the AEPEV Awards

Published on

González Byass has started 2016 with excellent news for its wines and sherry brandies. Noé Pedro Ximénez Muy Viejo, Tío Pepe en Rama and Brandy Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva have been among the "Best Wines and Spirits 2015", according to the AEPEV (Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers). For this election, AEPEV members had to rate 786 brands in two rounds, of which only 36 have finally been considered the best wines and spirits of Spain.

For the second year in a row, Noé Pedro Ximénez Muy Viejo was the best in the category of "Natural Sweet Wines, Liqueurs and Vermouths". With limited production, this sherry gem aged for over 30 years has captivated again the wine professionals making up the AEPEV. The same goes for Tío Pepe en Rama, a vibrant, exciting sherry wine that has imposed itself as the best wine in the category of "Wines with a Biological, Oxidative and Mixed Aging".

Likewise, Brandy Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva –the only Gran Reserva Brandy entirely made in Jerez– was chosen best in the Brandies Category. Lepanto, a direct offshoot of pure sherry, has a unique personality, the result of an exquisite production and aging process at the ancient González Byass cellars.

About the AEPEV

The Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers is made up of specialists in wine information from Spain. In order to claim the role of wine and –especially– Spanish wine, inside and outside Spain, its partners organise an annual competition to choose the Best Wines and Spirits from the country.
