Secastilla, best Spanish Red Wine at the International Wine Challenge

Published on
Wineries Viñas del Vero have obtained a historic result in the last edition of the International Wine Challenge, where Secastilla 2012 (Designation of Origin Somontano) obtained the triple crown made up of the Spanish Red Trophy, the Garnacha Trophy and the Aragón Garnacha Trophy. The special agroclimatic characteristics of Somontano, its terroir and diversity, make it possible that these lands can produce wines with a unique and differentiated personality, just like this Somontano gem. Organic viticulture and manual harvesting are Secastilla’s signs of identity; namely, Secastilla 2012 is a highly expressive, unrepeatable wine. It is made from the Garnacha grapes grown in the winery’s Secastilla valley vines, which are more than 70 years old and are pruned using the goblet method. Around 15,000 samples from the main wine regions of the world have taken part in the 34th edition of this world-wide wine event, in which Secastilla has certainly left its imprint. Secastilla offers a spectacular combination of bright hues and deep, complex aromas on the nose. An explosion of flavour and intensity characterises this Somontano wine, which, coupled with roasts, stews, red meat and game, will produce a unique harmony. Secastilla can be tasted at the most select restaurant and distribution points in Spain. It can also be purchased at theGonzález Byass Online Shop.
