Supertramp's Roger Hodgson: an international rock star at the Tío Pepe Festival

Published on
The 5th Tío Pepe Festival has confirmed a concert by Supertramp's former member Roger Hodgson on 16 August. The performance by the legendary British musician and composer will reinforce the international dimension of this cultural event and adds a fifth name to the artists confirmed for the fifth edition of a festival that will take place again at the monumental ensemble of the González Byass centennial wineries, located in the core of Jerez’s old town. Roger Hodgson –one of the most respected artists of the last decades and author of great hits such as “Give a Little Bit,” “The Logical Song”, “Dreamer”, “Take the Long Way Home”, “Breakfast in America”, “It’s Raining Again”, “School” and “Fool’s Overture”– will offer, in front of a small audience at a close distance from the stage, a unique show in a magical setting, surrounded by large sherry barrels and trellised alleys. Luz Casal (12 August), Sara Baras (14 August), Sergio Dalma (15 August) and Rosario Flores (17 August) are, to date, the artists on the bill of this “boutique festival” that will also feature some exclusive, sensory experiences like the “Dinners with the Stars” –bringing together renowned Michelin-starred chefs such as –as first confirmed stars– Paco Roncero, from La Terraza del Casino in Madrid (**), Roberto Ruiz, from Punto MX in Madrid (*) and Paco Morales, from the NOOR restaurant in Cordoba (*). The Festival Dinners, the Tonelería Tapas Bar and the Restaurant Nomad complete the culinary offer of this unique, special, diverse event. All of it seasoned with different live performances at TPF Club’s "The Village" –which will top off each day with drink proposals by cocktail specialists and mixologists– as well as The London No. 1’s Taxi Bar and Gin Mom's Kingdom Corner, where guests will enjoy the best of gin and tonic. A remarkable novelty of this fifth edition is the varied programme parallel to the Festival, including special tastings and visits, as well as a series of events connected to fashion, design and haute couture in the shape of workshops, master classes and exhibitions.   About Roger Hodgson Roger Hodgson was a legendary voice of Supertramp and composed some of the band’s greatest hits –those having stood the test of time and made Roger and Supertramp the idols of legions of followers around the world. During the time when he led the group, Supertramp sold more than 60 million albums and became a worldwide rock phenomenon. In 1983, he announced his retirement from the band after the gigantic promotional tour of the album 'Famous last words'. Currently, Hodgson continues to perform a wide repertoire of his greatest hits with Supertramp and his solo period. Thirty-five years after composing 'Give a little bit', Roger obtained an award for that song, one of the most performed in year 2005, according to ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Editors). In 2007 he received the same recognition after the great success achieved by his new version of 'Breakfast in America'.   Click on the link to see one of Roger Hodgson's performances: https://www.youtube.com/RogerHodgson   Confirmed artists at the 5th Tío Pepe Festival: Luz Casal: August 12.
