The Tío Pepe Festival has obtained a distinction as Best Wine Tourism Event of the World in the seventh edition of the “Drinks International Wine Tourism Challenge" awards, organised by the British magazine The Drinks International. The jury of these awards, which promote and recognise excellence in the wine tourism sector, have distinguished the quality of the Tío Pepe Festival and its multiple sensory experience.
For four years now, the historic enclosure inside the González Byass centennial wineries, located in the old town of Jerez, has been a unique setting where some of the best artists from around the world have come together and offered extraordinary shows. This boutique festival offers small concerts, which guarantee proximity to the artists, and a magical atmosphere where the audience can enjoy the different performances surrounded by sherry wine barrels and trellised streets.
Described by the jury of the competition as a wine tourism experience that "seeks to broaden the appeal of sherry wine", the Tío Pepe Festival also organises the Star Dinners: a series of culinary experiences that bring together the best national Michelin star chefs.
Throughout its five editions, the Tío Pepe Festival has become an event that goes beyond the borders of a mere show to become a unique experience. It is along this double direction –the presence of great international artists and a plural experience linked to the winery as a space for tourism, gastronomy and culture– that the Tío Pepe Festival has acquired its full meaning as a singular and unique event in the summer festival calendar.
