Tío Pepe joins The Night of the Books by turning off its neon sign at Puerta del Sol

Published on
Tío Pepe will take part in the Night of Books organised by the Madrid Region Government by turning off its famous neon sign at Puerta del Sol at 22.00. At this time, the usually more-than-busy square will become a space for poetry, with verses signed by poets of all time like Mario Benedetti, José Hierro, Alejandra Pizarnik, Lorca, Lope de Vega, Carmen Conde, Borges, Pablo Neruda, Rilke and Blanca Andreu being projected on the facade of the Royal Post House. At 10 o’clock the Tío Pepe neon sign will be disconnected to cast no light onto the Royal Post House, which will display a laser light painting performance. The writing of the verses will be accompanied by glowing graffiti illustrations created by SFHIR, one of the most famous artists of Street Art, who combines craftsmanship with the dynamism and spontaneity characteristic of graffiti, to achieve works full of freshness.
