The Tío Pepe neon sign joins the #EarthHour

Published on

The Tío Pepe neon sign at Madrid’s Puerta del Sol joins the "Earth Hour" again, an initiative organised by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to combat climate change. With its blackout, the famous landmarks cooperates with the Spanish branch of the Earth Hour la hora del Planeta , an initiative that, year after year, shows that the fight against climate change is real and feasible. In this campaign, the largest global initiative to defend the environment, millions of people around the world will turn off their lights to show their commitment to the planet.

This way, the bright lights of the historic neon sign will stop illuminating Puerta del Sol for some minutes to support a symbolic action with a global impact. Citizens, governments and businesses around the world will unite to try to raise public awareness about the effects of global warming and claim actions to control CO2 emissions.

Other monuments and buildings such as the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, will become exceptional settings for celebration and tribute to the planet. González Byass will join them by turning off the Tío Pepe neon, a true symbol of Madrid.

Promoting balanced growth that brings benefits to the environment, both locally and globally.

Always looking ahead
