Tío Pepe in Rama, Best Sherry Wine in Spain according to AEPEV

Published on
González Byass begins 2017 with excellent news for one of his most prestigious sherry wines. The last edition of Association of Wine Journalists and Writers Awards has chosen Tío Pepe en Rama as the Best Sherry Wine in its category. For this election, the journalists and writers who make up the Association have voted, in two rounds, for their favourite wines among the 1,055 brands proposed in the first phase of the competition, from which only a total of 143 wines and 41 spirits went to the second round. Inspired by the days when fino was drunk directly from the barrel, Tío Pepe in Rama has not been subjected to any fining or filtration processes. This Tío Pepe at its purest expresses the unique character of sherry and displays a noble, sublime and delicate fino that every year dazzles lovers of these unique wines. Its label has been inspired by historical original designs preserved by the González Byass Foundation through its Historical Archive. Fish, seafood, cheeses, white meats and tapas are the perfect companions to match this wine wonder, a result of the selection of 60 exceptional barrels made by Antonio Flores, top oenologist at González Byass. About the AEPEV Founded in 2006, the Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers (AEPEV) is an organization formed by journalists, communicators, editors and specialised writers who are united by a common passion for wine, vineyards and the wine industry. With the aim of vindicating the role of wine and, especially, Spanish wine inside and outside our borders, its members organise, among other initiatives, this annual competition to choose the Best Wines and Spirits from Spain
