Whyte & Mackay celebrates Richard Paterson's 50th Anniversary at González Byass

Published on
González Byass's century-old wineries have been the setting chosen for the 50th professional anniversary celebration of Richard Paterson –Whyte & Mackay Master Distiller. Throughout half a century of excellent work, Richard Paterson's outstanding nose –considered one of the most distinguished in the world– has helped him to produce the unique Whyte & Mackay collections: a group of genuine Single Malt Whiskeys that González Byass distributes exclusively in Spain. Whyte & Mackay and González Byass are united by the same philosophy, based on excellence and the search for the highest quality in all their products. Both companies have collaborated for more than 100 years, when the Mackenzie family, founder of The Dalmore distillery, saw in González Byass's sherry casks the perfect choice to mature their legendary whiskey. Today, this bond is kept alive thanks to the work of, among others, Richard Paterson, Master Distiller of Whyte & Mackay. True to tradition, he travels to Jerez to personally select the barrels that will contain each of the nuances of The Dalmore. "A perfect blend" On his trips to Jerez, Richard Paterson tours these wineries accompanied by Antonio Flores –top Winemaker and Master Blender at González Byass– in search of the perfect sherry for the casks that will mature the best whiskey in the world. The intuition and wisdom of the two masters always materialise in a "perfect blend". About Richard Paterson Richard Paterson is considered an outstanding Master Distiller worldwide. With 50 years of experience in the sector, he directs with passion, care and affection the making of The Dalmore, one of the best whiskeys in the world.
