For the second year in a row, Jerez’s González Byass wineries will host a major summer event in Andalusia: the Tío Pepe Festival. “Intimate and personal". This edition will feature two internationally renowned figures: mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera and flamenco singer Estrella Morente. On the 13th and 14th of August, different spaces and gardens of the wineries will become a supreme background for a multisensory show.
The Tío Pepe Festival offers the chance to watch and enjoy two great artists in the context of a multi-sensory show, connected to the winery as a space for experiences. Designed to offer a unique summer event for leisure, the event will also feature the Tío Pepe Festival Club, an in-garden terrace beside the La Concha Royal Winery, where visitors can have their drinks and cocktails in a relaxed atmosphere surrounded by live music.
A number of intimate and magical settings with limited seating capacity –such as the Los Gigantes and Los Apóstoles Wineries and the Villa Victorina Gardens–, the tasting of unique sherry wines and some culinary creations especially prepared for the occasion are some of the highlights of a festival that has become a landmark event in Andalusia.
Nancy Fabiola Herrera
Nancy Fabiola Herrera, one of the foremost interpreters in the international opera arena, has prepared a special and exclusive programme inviting us to join her on a sentimental journey. Under the suggestive title of "Carmen and I", the mezzosoprano will reach the ports of Carmen’s most popular scenes as well as some other timeless moments of her repertoire: operas and songs that are part of her life, with Carmen as her greatest role.
The Los Gigantes Winery will host the first part of the programme, namely "Love is a Rebellious Bird", bringing together several works by Bizet. Next, in the section called "Nancy Fabiola: photo album", the mezzosoprano will perform works by Gerónimo Alonso, Nestor Álamo, Ernesto Lecuona and Pauline Viardot. The second part, titled "Carmen” and staged at the Los Apóstoles Winery, will feature several pieces by the French composer, as well as some other works by Manuel de Falla, Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert.
The Canary Island-born mezzosoprano will be accompanied by pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre, the Villamarta Theatre Choir and –as a special guest– Mercedes Ruiz, recent winner of the Audience Award at the Festival de Jerez.

Estrella Morente
Estrella Morente is, without a doubt, the most internationally acclaimed flamenco singer of the moment. Her style runs through new and very personal paths: that is why watching, feeling and listening to her are the only ways to experience her unique art in an intimate manner. Morente’s voice vibrates between the ethereal and the earthly, like a presence that constantly shifts from reality to a dream world. Anyone who has had the opportunity to see her live will never forget the show: they are aware that they have been involved in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In "Estrella Morente in Concert", Morente offers the best of her art: from the subtle simplicity of the festive songs of her childhood, to the depths of a yearned-for love. A full picture of feelings, a full range of sensations and their nuances: all the experiences of current and past women can be tracked in Morente’s voice. On the night of 14th August, Estrella will be accompanied by her usual band of seven musicians and voices, led by guitarist José Carbonell "Montoyita".
