As a continuation of the press release published in December 2016, González Byass and Group Emperador announce, following the authorisation by the Mexican competition authorities, the joint acquisition from Pernod Ricard of brands Domecq and Pedro Domecq, as well as the brandy and wine business connected to these brands worldwide. The operation has been closed at a total of 81 million euros.
This business has Mexico as its main market, namely through brandy brands Presidente, Don Pedro and Azteca de Oro, as well as a winery in Baja California. The agreement also includes, among other interests, commercial stakes in the United States and Brazil, as well as the Benelux, where sherry wine is marketed under the Domecq brand.
The operation was executed through Bodega Las Copas, a joint venture between Emperador and González Byass, which consolidates the activity that these companies have jointly been carrying out in the making of brandy for the Philippine market, with more than 275 hectares of high-yield vineyards in Toledo, Spain, a distillery in Tomelloso and a group of wineries in Jerez.
