González Byass, the winery that leads the international expansion and dissemination of sherry wines, has been included in the "Top 100 Wineries of the Year" ranking, which selects the 100 best wineries in the world, according to Wine & Spirits Magazine. This list is made up of wineries whose wines have obtained the best ratings: the American publication has tasted more than 15,000 samples from around the world in 2017. Among the best ones of the year are the wine gems Tío Pepe Cuatro Palmas and Tío Pepe Tres Palmas, with 96 points each, Tío Pepe Dos Palmas, with 94 points, and Tío Pepe Una Palma, with 91 points.
The magazine’s tasting committee, made up of experts from the world of wine, has praised the quality and uniqueness of Tío Pepe Cuatro Palmas, an Amontillado obtained from only one of the six casks that have been ageing at González Byass for 52 years. The same happened with Tío Pepe Tres Palmas, a Fino Amontillado that has received 10 years of pure biological ageing and comes from only one barrel from the 150 that make up its solera.
Tío Pepe Dos Palmas is a fino that remains for 8 years under the flor yeast layer that covers the entire surface of the wine, whereas Tío Pepe Una Palma is the result of the evolution of a 6-year-old Tío Pepe. They both round off the presence of González Byass in the Wine & Spirits Magazine’s ranking of the best wines of the year.
