González Byass organizes the 4th edition of Sherrymaster by Tío Pepe, which will take place on September 7th and 8th at the company’s central wineries in Jerez. Introduced by Antonio Flores (@Hacedordevinos), González Byass’ top winemaker and master blender, participants will tour the fascinating world of sherry: a unique, complex and enthralling area of knowledge –and pleasure.
The Sherrymaster will actually begin at the Viña Esteve Wineries, where attendees will be shown the great role that soil, wind and sun play in the evolution of these vines and wines. Next, they will travel through two centuries of history at the Historical Archives of the González Byass Foundation, which keeps and preserves the historical, artistic and documentary heritage of this Family of Wines.
"5 Harmonies and a puzzle to solve. The Mugaritz cuisine and the wines by González Byass" is the title of the master class conducted by Guillermo Cruz, Head Sommelier at restaurant Mugaritz. Then, one of the novelties of this fourth edition will take place: a gastronomic experience named "Jerez and the Andalusian cuisine”. The first day will be closed by a V-shaped tasting –organised by Antonio Flores– through the roads and paths of the sherry wines.
The second day will start with the recreation of a historical episode. The "Tío Pepe Boat Tour" along River Guadalete will repeat the journey that the sherry barrels made from the heart of the winery to the ships awaiting them at the Bay of Cadiz, ready to bring this precious wine overseas. Back to the winery, the tasting "Chalk and Albero Soil" –again conducted by Antonio Flores– at the very feet of the casks will be the finishing touch of this edition of Sherrymaster. González Byass’ top winemaker and master blender will examine here the uniqueness of each barrel and the importance of the in-cellar classification of wines.
