Tintilla de Rota Dulce de Finca Moncloa 2011 obtained a Chairman's Trophy at the USA "Ultimate Wine Challenge" thanks to its election, with 98 points, as best sweet wine of the competition. Likewise, the Decanter World Wine Awards, a benchmark international contest held in the UK, awarded a gold medal to this Cadiz Regional Wine made –with very limited production and using traditional methods– by Finca Moncloa.
Located in Arcos de la Frontera, this small winery is the result of the González family’s commitment to developing quality red wines in the Cadiz province and recovering the Tintilla de Rota grape. Renowned in the 19th and early 20th centuries in Cadiz and the United Kingdom, this variety, which was once on the very verge of disappearing, comes back to life again in the 21st century.
The planting of the Tintilla Rota vineyards, carried out with particular care, began in 2002. After years of work and research, this forgotten variety started to grow in the Cadiz soils and fascinated the world again. With only two vintages produced, Tintilla de Rota Dulce has garnered countless accolades –rewarding its quality and uniqueness– from around the world.
