The presentation to the media of the Tío Pepe Festival marks the beginning of the countdown to the beginning of its fourth edition. The Andalusian Government’s Minister for Tourism and Sports, Francisco Javier Fernández Hernández; the Mayor of Jerez, María del Carmen Sánchez Díaz; the Director of Quality, Innovation and Tourism Promotion of the Andalusian Government, María del Carmen Arjona Pabón; the ambassadors of the festival, Ainhoa Arteta and Ismael Jordi, and the President of González Byass, Mauricio González-Gordon, presented this wine-and-tourism proposal which has placed itself as the most important cultural summer event in Spain. Furthermore, Michelin-star chefs Óscar Velasco (**), Mario Sandoval (**), Ricardo Sanz (*) and David García (*) announced one of the great novelties of the fourth edition: the Dinners with the Stars.
The 4th Tío Pepe Festival, whose official poster is the work of Jerez-born painter Carlos C. Lainez, will feature internationally acclaimed figures such as tenor Gregory Kunde, music group El Dúo Dinámico, flamenco singer Miguel Poveda, soprano Barbara Hendricks –who will perform a jazz, blues and spiritual concert– and pop singer Miguel Bosé. Various musical genres –such as opera, indie, flamenco, jazz and pop– will be present at this festival, which will be held from 10 to 14 August in several spaces and gardens of the González Byass Wineries in Jerez. In each of its editions, the Tío Pepe Festival has been an event that has transcended the boundaries of a mere show to become a multiple sensorial experience.
It is in this double direction –the presence of great international artists and a plural experience linked to the winery as a space for wine tourism, gastronomy and culture– where the Tío Pepe Festival reaches its full meaning as a singular and unique event in the summer festival calendar. After the success of the past editions, its format has been reinforced this year, its length being extended from three to five days and its non-artistic proposals being likewise increased.
The Dinners with the Stars
Among the main novelties of the 4th edition is the Dinner with the Stars, which will feature Michelin-star chefs Óscar Velasco of Santceloni (**) on August 10; Ricardo Sanz of Kabuqui (*) on August 11; David García of El Corral de la Morería (*) on 12 August, and Mario Sandoval of Coque (**) on 14 August. These dinners, meant to make up a gastronomic cycle, may be purchased together with the concert tickets or enjoyed independently.
