Vilarnau Brut Reserva has become, for the third year in a row, one of the best cavas in the world by winning a Gold Medal at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, a competition considered as the Oscars of champagne and sparkling wines and organised by Tom Stevenson, the world's leading expert on the subject.
The result achieved in this contest –where only Gold and Silver Medals are awarded– confirms Vilarnau as one of the cavas with greater international prestige. Since its first edition, the jury of the competition –made up of specialists such as Master of Wine Essi Avellan and Dr. Tony Jordan– have stressed the personality of the Vilarnau wines: cavas with a strong Mediterranean character made by a winery whose philosophy is based on environmental respect and care.
The making of Vilarnau Brut Reserva follows the traditional method of a secondary fermentation in the bottle, with an ageing of more than 15 months. The result is a cava that combines the balance provided by the Macabeo grape, the acidity and freshness of Parellada and the aromatic enhancement characteristic of Xarel.lo. Served between 6º and 8º C, this Brut Reserva is perfect as a pre-lunch drink.
