Viñas del Vero Gran Vos Reserva, one of the star wines of winery Viñas del Vero, has just turned 20 vintages. To celebrate this special year for one of the greatest wines of Aragón, Viñas del Vero has brought together renowned sommeliers and wine journalists at a tasting organised at Restaurant Absinthium in Zaragoza. During this meeting, José Ferrer, Viñas del Vero’s top winemaker, has unveiled the secrets of the most emblematic vintages of a wine that is made from a special selection of the best red grapes of each vintage.
Led by Mr. Ferrer, the tasting showed the history of this wine through different wines: Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 1990 –the first vintage launched on the market– Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 1995 Mágnum and Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 1998 Mágnum. Then the personality of the first vintages of the 21st century was revealed through Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 2001 Mágnum, Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 2003 and Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 2004. The tour concluded with contemporaries Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 2009 and magnum wines Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 2007 and Viñas del Vero Gran Vos 2005.
Throughout its history, harmony, seriousness and complexity have defined Viñas del Vero "Gran Vos" which, in ancient Aragonese, precisely means "great wine". A selection of new barrels from the Allier forest has managed to keep and preserve –for 18 months in each of the 20 vintages– a crianza wine that reflects the innovative spirit and the experience of the Somontano's leading winery.
