González Byass has launched the 12th edition of its unfiltered and unclarified fino, Tio Pepe En Rama, into a UK market that has witnessed an extraordinary 12 months of growth across the sherry category with total category exports increasing by over a quarter in the last 12 months*. With Tio Pepe the star performing brand**, Gonzalez Byass UK has also reported unprecedented demand for its annual release of unclarified, unfiltered Tio Pepe Fino En Rama.
Tio Pepe En Rama 2021 has been characterised by a very wet autumn and a cold, humid winter. Fortunately, the unusual periods of frost were short lived and the temperature in the bodegas rarely fell below 12 or 13 °C which meant that the flor remained healthy and intact giving the wine powerful aromas and a wonderful crispness. The release was selected from 82 barrels in the Tio Pepe solera. Award winning Master Blender Antonio Flores comments, “The wine is intense yet fragrant and delicate. Our century –old bodega La Constancia has once again offered up the best of its terroir to produce an En Rama wine that is all about this living flor that we have the privilege to work with. This year, without all the usual visits and tastings, I spent a lot longer than I usually do selecting the finest casks of Fino and I am absolutely certain that people will love this year’s bottling”.
Bottled in the second week of April 2021, this super-fresh fino is available in magnum, 75cl and 37.5cl formats and will be available for delivery in the UK from early May.
