The 2nd Tío Pepe Festival will feature Estrella Morente and Nancy Fabiola Herrera

Publicada el
Two artists of international renown –mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera and flamenco singer Estrella Morente– will be the stars at the second edition of the Tío Pepe Festival. For two days –13th and 14th August– different spaces and gardens of the González Byass wineries will be the perfect setting for an event that goes beyond a mere show to become a multi-sensory experience. Apart from the opportunity to watch and enjoy these two great artists, the Tío Pepe Festival offers a sensory experience connected to the concept of a winery as a space for experience. Designed to offer a unique event for summer leisure, the event will also feature the Tío Pepe Festival Club, an in-garden terrace beside the La Concha Royal Winery, where visitors will be able to enjoy their drinks and cocktails in a relaxed atmosphere and surrounded by live music. A number of intimate and magical settings with limited seating capacity –such as the Los Gigantes and Los Apóstoles wineries and the Villa Victorina Gardens–, along with the tasting of unique sherry wines and some culinary creations specially prepared for the occasion, are some of the highlights of a festival which has become a landmark event in Andalusia. Nancy Fabiola Herrera Nancy Fabiola Herrera  is considered one of the foremost interpreters in the international opera arena. Over a two-decade professional career she has displayed her talent and devotion in great opera arenas such as New York’s Metropolitan Opera, London's Covent Garden, Berlin’s Deutsche Oper, Madrid’s Teatro Real, the Arena di Verona, the Baths of Caracalla, the Masada Festival in Israel, the Los Angeles Opera and the Tokyo Opera. In 2014, she debuted in the title role of Bizet's Carmen –a brilliant performance of a crucial character in her career, which she presented at the Sydney Opera House, the Melbourne Opera, Moscow's Bolshoi Theater and Rome’s Teatro dell'Opera. For this occasion, and under the suggestive title of "Carmen and I," Nancy Fabiola Herrera has prepared a special and exclusive programme that invites us to join her on a sentimental journey. This adventure will reach the ports of Carmen’s most popular scenes, as well as some other timeless moments of her repertoire: operas and songs that have become part of her life, with Carmen as her greatest role. The Canary-Island born mezzosoprano will perform on 13th August, accompanied by the Villamarta Theatre Choir and pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre. Special guest will be flamenco dancer Mercedes Ruiz, recent winner of the Audience Award at the Festival de Jerez. Estrella Morente Estrella Morente  is, undoubtedly, the most international flamenco singer of the moment. Her style runs through new and very personal paths: that is why watching, feeling and listening to her are the only ways to experience her unique art in an intimate manner. Morente’s voice vibrates between the ethereal and the earthly, like a presence that constantly shifts from reality to a dream world. Anyone who has had the opportunity to see her live will never forget the show: spectators are aware that they have attended a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In "Estrella Morente in Concert", Morente offers the best of her art: from the subtle simplicity of the festive songs of her childhood, to the depths of a yearned-for love. A full picture of feelings, a full range of sensations and their nuances: all the experiences of current and past women can be tracked in Morente’s voice. On the night of 14th August, Estrella will be accompanied by her usual band of seven musicians and voices, led by guitarist José Carbonell "Montoyita".
