The Tío Pepe Festival

Music, flamenco and sherry met on 14th August at the first Tío Pepe Festival "Art of the Muses", held at the González Byass Wineries in Jerez. Pianist Márquez and dancer Leonor Leal offered an exclusive stage show at these ancient wineries.   Music, singing and dancing –the arts of the muses– together with the mystery and complexity of the Jerez wines, awakened the senses through three intimate and unique concerts, held in three exceptional venues: Winery Los Gigantes, winery Los Apóstoles and the Royal Winery La Concha. Afterwards, a special dinner in the gardens of Villa Victorina was offered, followed by a final concert by the four artists featured.   The Tío Pepe Festival will certainly become a must for lovers of music and sherry. Destined to last, this event is the result of the commitment of González Byass to foster a heterogeneous wine tourism offer, based on quality and innovation.   ALBARIZA – The grapes and the country Winery Los Gigantes, with its large windows and imposing arches, witnessed the singing of the trilla songs by Rocío Márquez, accompanied by flamenco dancer Leonor Leal. These popular threshing songs were paired with a glass of Tiojito, a classic Jerez cocktail made ​​with Tío Pepe, lemonade and mint.   SILENCIO – The aging in the cellar Soprano Ruth Rosique, along with singer Rocío Márquez, delighted the audience with lullaby songs by Federico García Lorca, Leo Browwe and Manuel de Falla at winery Los Apóstoles. An enchanting experience that was paired with a glass of Amontillado Viña AB.   RECÓNDITA ARMONÍA – The sherry A glass of Leonor Palo Cortado, the "rebellious" sherry that conveys emotions, accompanied pieces “Jerez” and “Puerto” by Isaac Albéniz, interpreted by Pianist Rosa Torres-Pardo at Royal Winery La Concha.   Closing Concert at the Villa Victorina Gardens The famous Villa Victorina Gardens, a botanical garden with plants and trees from all over the world, were chosen as the venue for a closing concert in which the four artists performed. Works by Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla, Federico García Lorca, Father Antonio Soler and Joaquín Turina were interpreted.
