González Byass is proud to have been awarded the 2020 Meininger “Excellence in Wine & Spirits” in the prestigious “Wine Family of the Year” category.
Inspired by a wine tradition that stretches back across the centuries, one of Spain’s most prestigious, global wine brands González Byass, has won this year’s “Excellence in Wine & Spirits” in the prestigious award, “Wine Family of the Year 2020” at the renowned Meininger Annual Industry Awards.
At the official awards ceremony, held in Dusseldorf, the Meininger team cited the company’s continued dedication to producing quality wines and spirits and their position as the benchmark for innovation and brand creation in Spain and Chile at an international level.
Commenting on the accolade, Mauricio González Gordon, fifth generation family member and Chairman of González Byass, said, “This award is testament to the hard work and high standards of the González Byass team. To receive such acknowledgement from one of the world’s most well-respected publications is a great honour for me, my family and the entire team.
He continued “The German, and German-speaking, markets are key part of our international strategy to build and distribute relevant and wine and spirits brands. Despite these challenging times our dedicated German-based team have increased our Tío Pepe and Sherry sales by 15%+ to the end of the financial year and we have seen double digit growth in sales and distribution of our core wine brands Beronia and Veramonte, in the same period.”
“This award has a much wider reach than just one market,” concluded González Gordon, “The Meininger Awards are respected globally and receiving this recognition will only serve to fire our commitment to produce better, more sustainably produced wines and spirits, whilst maintaining our reputation as a benchmark producer in Spain and Chile.”
