Wine tourism and harvest time at González Byass Jerez, Viñas del Vero and Vilarnau

Evenings, nature, history, music and gastronomy share the limelight with the vineyards, wineries and wines in the wine tourism activities programmed around the harvest at González Byass Jerez (D.O. Jerez), Viñas del Vero (D.O. Somontano) and Vilarnau (D.O. Cava). Experiences that will give visitors different perspectives on what happens at harvest time at the wineries, with the tours taking a “responsible wine tourism” approach designed to be totally safe for all visitors, guides and staff.

 

González Byass Jerez (D.O. Jerez)

An experience at the heart of Jerez

Tour the Jerez vineyard, taste jewels of the wine world in the century-old bottle store and stay overnight at the winery. The experience, which gives you opportunity to stay in the heart of Jerez, starts with breakfast amongst the vines at Viña La Canariera, where you will see the work that goes on to ensure the Palomino and Pedro Ximénez grapes are harvested with care. You will also be able to walk in amongst the vines and taste some grapes. The visit continues with a tour of the Tío Pepe winery at the centre of Jerez’s historical hub, including the vine-covered streets that lead to the most hidden corners of the winery. A stroll through history that grants exclusive access to the González Byass bottle store. The biggest in the world of Jerez wines, it boasts extensive collections from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Here, visitors are given the chance to taste some of the most exclusive wines from the House of Tío Pepe, followed by a pairing lunch on one of the winery’s secluded, vine-trellised patios. The highlight of the experience is a night in the Hotel Bodega Tio Pepe, the only Sherry hotel in the world. Located at the heart of the Tío Pepe Solera, this is where the story of this winery began.

Viñas del Vero (D.O. Somontano)

Evening in the vineyard and musical pairing

Viñas del Vero has designed a pairing that brings music and local products together with the winery’s most representative wines  . Taking place in the incomparable setting of sunset at the foot of the Sierra de Guara, overlooked by the Pyrenees, the experience offers a chance to disconnect and absorb the riches and diversity of Somontano.

The Art of the Harvest

The winery offers visitors the chance to see how the harvest is carried out, from start to finish. From picking the grapes to making the wine, the tour also takes in treading the grapes and producing the must. “The Art of the Harvest” is an experience that will show you every detail of the steps involved in making Viñas del Vero wines.

Vilarnau (D.O. Cava)

Grape-picking tour

Guided by expert viticulturists, visitors spend the day as real grape pickers, cutting grapes from the vine, treading the grapes in the traditional way and extracting the first must of the year. The day’s work concludes with a tasting of Vilarnau cavas served with appetizers.

Visit with km 0 brunch or picnic

As well as carrying out some of the tasks involved in harvesting, visitors also experience a tasting of Vilarnau cavas, paired with a km 0 brunch or picnic featuring products from Penedés.
