The first two days of Enofusion sees the return of Top Wine Spain, a project curated by Carlos Delgado, one of Spain’s foremost wine critics. The Show features the main players in Spain’s winemaking industry and this year Blecua will again be the only wine there from the Somontano D.O.. Blecua is considered to be a cult wine and is only made in exceptional years. Winemaker José Ferrer looks after every stage of the process involved in making this vinous jewel. Produced in extremely limited amounts, the wine is the result of a triple, exhaustive selection process of vines, bunches and barrels. This wine is a work of art and also offers extraordinary ageing potential, meaning it has a promising future. After 20 months maturing in new oak barrels, the result is a complex, powerful red Somontano bursting with flavour and graced with smooth tannins.
