The “Mundial de Tempranillo” (World Tempranillo Competition) has awarded Dominio Fournier Crianza 2016 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) a Gold Medal.
More than 500 wines from leading Spanish winemaking regions were entered for the competition, which recognises the best wines made from Spain’s most-planted indigenous grape variety. One of the wines recognised was Dominio Fournier Crianza 2016.
The competition jury, made up of top wine industry professionals, highlighted the uniqueness of the Dominio Fournier Crianza. The winery is located on in a special location, tucked-away on the banks of the Duero river and the winemaking process is governed by a love of detail. Every step at Dominio Fournier, from when the first shoots appear in spring right through to the autumn harvest, is guided by experience, passion and commitment.
Dominio Fournier Crianza 2016 exemplifies this approach. Made from selected, hand-picked grapes, the wine spends 12 months in French oak barrels, long enough to give the wine complexity and personality and reveal some of the tertiary aromas that appear as a result of ageing.
Fresh, smooth and elegant on the palate, the wine displays remarkable persistence and is pleasantly memorable. This is a harmonious, balanced wine that is a perfect match for meat and strong cheeses.
