Vilarnau Brut Reserva has been recognised as the Best Cava of the Year at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships. The accolade comes on top of its other nominations as Best Organic Cava and Best Non-Vintage Brut Cava and winning Gold Medal – all in the same championships. The competition, which embraces the best champagnes, cavas and sparkling wines in the world, has rated this Brut Reserva the best cava of the year.
Made by Vilarnau, this cava is made with grapes from vineyards certified organic and according to the traditional method involving a second fermentation in bottle, with more than 15 months’ ageing on its lees. The result is a Brut Reserva that combines balance, provided by the Macabeo grapes, with acidity and freshness from the Parellada grapes, and a classic Penedés aromatic hit from the Xarel.lo grapes.
