The wine tourism proposition offered by González Byass was a winner at the International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards Spain 2019. The event, which recognises the main players in the Spanish wine industry, named the Tío Pepe Festival the “Best Wine Tourism Experience” and the “Tío Pepe Shop” the “Best Shop in a Winery”.
The historic González Byass winery buildings were the setting for what was rated the Best Wine Tourism Experience of 2019. For the last six years the winery has staged unique music events against its magical, historical backdrop right in the centre of Jerez, serving the finest food and wine as well. The Awards referred to the Tío Pepe Festival as an “initiative that combines music, wine, the winery and gastronomy together. An experiential festival for all five senses.”
The Awards jury, which includes leading figures from the world of wine, also gave a prize to the Tío Pepe Shop for a second time, highlighting “its constant ability to innovate and the way it translates passion for wine into unforgettable experiences, turning wine into an enthralling adventure whereby people touch it, smell it, see it and hear it.”
